November: The results of the COPLA baseline assessment will be published this month.
Each country team is employing a mixed methods approach involving a structured questionnaire, key informant interviews and focus group discussions with civil society actors and policy makers. Although each of the studies is tailored to the specificities of the different political and civil society environments in the three COPLA countries, they all use a common core to ensure a degree of comparability and the possibility for this approach to be scaled up to other countries interested in addressing the linkages between trade, poverty reduction and social exclusion more systematically.
The questions aim to provide a detailed mapping of key actors, their interests, capacities and tactics, as well as the opportunities and challenges they perceive exist in their political context for greater trade and trade-related policy dialogues involving civil society organisations.
