The author explores the effects of an increase in cut-flower exports in the Ecuadorian highlands as a result of trade liberalisation and the relocation of cut-flower plantations from Colombia to Ecuador. The aim of the paper is to answer the following question: What are the consequences of the growth of cut-flower exports for rural women, their families, and their communities?
