Trade Integration and Gender
This paper provides a literature review that explores the recent developments in the areas of trade and integration and trade and gender within the greater Caribbean. The paper provides detailed and analytical sections on three main themes; globalisation, regional integration related to trade liberalisation, and the gender issues of trade liberalisation.
The author concludes that the current multilateral trading systems as well as trade related policies are influencing all other aspects of the economy including social policies and domestic regulations therefore without the inclusion of gender equity and social justice in these policies, trade liberalization in the Caribbean could be hindering sustainable social and economic development
